About Tonus Veritatis

Tonus Veritatis is an independent compositional framework developed by composer Robert P. Swinea (SenorMusica81).

The system explores tonal organization through tuned frequency relationships rather than fixed equal-temperament divisions. By emphasizing stable frequency anchors and perceptual tonal gravity, Tonus Veritatis offers an alternative approach to harmonic structure, tonal motion, and compositional development.

About the Creator

Robert P. Swinea is a composer and experimental music theorist exploring alternative tonal systems, generative composition, and frequency-based harmonic architecture.

Through the SenorMusica81 project, his work spans ambient, orchestral, and hybrid compositions that investigate how tonal identity can emerge from mathematically structured frequency relationships rather than conventional harmonic syntax.

The name “Tonus Veritatis” was suggested by my father, an Episcopal priest who studied Latin as part of his theological training. After hearing the mathematical structure behind the tuning system, and that it relied on Solfeggio tones for anchors, he proposed the phrase meaning roughly “Tones of Truth.”

Ongoing Development

Tonus Veritatis is an evolving framework currently being explored through theoretical documentation, compositional demonstrations, and experimental musical works.

Framework Development

Framework

Tonus Veritatis is an evolving compositional framework explored through theoretical documentation, compositional experiments, and frequency-based tuning studies.

Current areas of exploration include:

• tonal gravity and perceptual stability
• metric frequency scaling
• alternative harmonic architectures
• applications in generative and algorithmic music

Future documentation and reference materials will continue to be published as the system develops.
